In this post I will be documenting my eyelash extensions! Throughout the next 3 months or so, I will add updates to this post on how they hold up, the fill process, and how I like them. I’m excited and hoping it will give you some first hand experience on if they’re worth it.
Flaunt salon in Norman is where I got my lashes done. Liz is amazing and I will link her at the end of this post! The regular full set is priced at $150+. They’re generally set at a high price but most customers say they are worth it. Cosmopolitan did a “Roadtest” on somebody’s experience first hand. “The only downside: they’re addicting” the author writes. I would say that if you are being charged much over $150, find somewhere else. At the same time, if a salon charges less than $100, the person applying them might not be very experienced.
The process: The esthetician will talk you through different types of lashes (Regular, volume, and hybrid) and figure out what is best (I went with the hybrid lashes). Then, to keep your bottom lashes out of the way, a gel eye pad will be placed under your eye. It’s not the most comfortable set up but its not too bad. After this, the lashes will be applied one by one. This is a long process whenever you’re getting a full set done. The most important thing is to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible. My appointment lasted about 2 hours and 15 min so by the end I was pretty fidgety and ready to open my eyes.
When I saw them I was happy with how they turned out and surprised at how much of a difference they make. I was given a few spoolies to use throughout the day as well as some instructions for aftercare. The only negative about aftercare is you cannot shower or get your eyes wet for at least 24 hours. As far as keep up, micellar water is recommended to keep oil buildup away from the lashes. Fills are $60 at Flaunt and they’re required every 2-4 weeks depending on how they keep up. I don’t want to say if they are worth it or not yet because I want to see how they hold up. As of right now though, I LOVE THEM.
UPDATE: Hey! I’ve had my extensions for about 10 days now and I am Loving them! They seem to be holding up really well despite washing my face and showering like normal. I am starting to notice some of them falling out but that’s completely normal since they fall out at the same rate of your natural lashes. I will be getting a fill in about a week (I will have had them almost 3 weeks). The fill is 60 dollars and will take about an hour. Since I love them so much and I’m comfortable with them, I might get a little more dramatic look. They are much more low maintenance than I thought they would be. All I do is cleanse the roots with a small sponge-ish brush and micellar water.

Hello! This is a short and sweet post that explains why I haven’t posted in a week. School and life has really been getting to me the last 2 weeks. Question: why is everyone sick right now including me? I’ve always been skeptical of the idea that stress can cause actual sickness. This week has shown otherwise so I’m thinking there may be some truth to that saying. Sinus infections are not fun and I haven’t been able to breath out of both nostrils simultaneously in days (Gross I know). I’m trying to get better as soon as possible so I can get back on my normal routine. Most of the things I’m doing only make me feel better temporarily because at this point, rest and medicine are the only things that can actually heal me. But, if you’re sick like me right now, here’s some things that will help (at least temporarily). Also, if you’re sick, go to the doctor even if you don’t think it’s that bad. You’ll probably get better quicker!
The NUMBER ONE thing that makes me feel so much better is taking a hot bath. It’s relaxing and it prepares your body for good rest. I suggest using a bath salt or scrub to massage and relax to the fullest.
The bath salt I use soothe and sleep by Dr. Teals.
The scrub I love is Coconut and Hibiscus by SheaMoisture
The second thing that makes me feel better is wearing soft lightweight clothing and of course sleep! Being sick and wearing uncomfortable clothing is a bad combination so find your favorite lounge fit and relax. I’ve found out that wearing lounge jumpsuits to bed is the best thing ever so I’ll link one below.
I’m the type of person that always feels like I need to be doing something productive. I go go go and don’t stop which usually works out; until it doesn’t. This week has shown me that it’s healthy to slow down and if you don’t, it could cost you! What are some things you guys do when you’re sick? (I’m willing to try anything)
The super soft jumper I highly recommend to sleep is H&M
In my purse you’ll find loose coins, a ridiculous amount of receipts, gum wrappers, and lots of other random trash. I’m an organized person but when it comes to my purses, I don’t try very hard. There are some items that are a MUST for me. This is kind of a mini post of my favorite products but these products can always be found on me.
#1- Perfume (travel size)
I love the small travel sized roll on perfumes because they are fast and small enough to always have with me. I use roll on perfume regularly throughout the day just to stay smelling fresh. Right now, my favorite scent is Marc Jacobs Daisy. Its long lasting and isn’t too overpowering. If floral scents aren’t your favorite, Giorgio Armani’s “Si” is also great.
#2- Lip moisturizer
The lip balm I carry is from a subscription I have with Birchbox. If you don’t know what Birchbox is and you like trying new products you should look into it! Every month they send testers of makeup and skincare products from amazing brands. One of my favorites that I carry all the time is Miracle lip balm by Dr. Lipp. This stuff is AMAZING and 100% natural. It’s light, glossy and very moisturizing.
#3- A bag insert
Despite the disaster my purse usually is, I try to keep it to where I can find things easily. One way I do this is using bag inserts. You can find them about anywhere and they can be super cute. The insert I use is actually a pencil bag but works perfectly to keep things in order.
#4- Lip stain
Also sent in a Birchbox, lip stain is one of my favorite makeup products right now. The one I use is Clarin’s and is called “water lip stain”. It lasts hours, its smudge proof, and you don’t even feel it. This product is a bit on the pricey side but I think its worth it. The product lasts a long time but if the price is an issue, ELF has an “essential lip stain” that is a more affordable alternative.
I hope you saw something you might want to try out while reading this post!
